On this date the PBS kiddies favorite Mister Rogers Neighborhood was seen for the first time, while To Tell the Truth, the Rosie O'Donnell daytime talk show and Johnny Carson's Tonight Show were seen for the final time. Famed Top 40 deejay Robert W. Morgan checked out much too young, along with the Jack Benny radio show.
Canada's broadcast regulator the CRTC made headlines, along with Jerry Lee Lewis, Cher, Raymond Burr, and Phil Donahue.

Dan Lewis Anchors his Last KOMO Newscast
Dan's last newscast as anchor was Wednesday May 21st at 11 pm. That ends nearly 27 years as the prime face of KOMO4 News in Seattle. The 64-year-old told us last month the decision was two years in the making. Station officials say Lewis will still appear on the air on special occasions and on special assignments.
