Vancouver's CJVB became BC's first station airing in AM stereo, Jimmy Durante made his radio debut on NBC's Eddie Cantor show, KING-TV and Charles Herring introduced Seattle's first TV newscast, Campbell River got its first local radio station, CFWB at AM 1490; the Rolling Stones appeared on CBS-TV's 'Ed Sullivan Show,' and 'Gunsmoke' starring James Arness began its more than 20 year run on CBS-TV.
