SEATTLE-TACOMA: Do The Tighten Up
The 6+ competition was suddenly a lot more intense as UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON N/T KUOW – which remained #1 for the third straight survey – took a bit of a hit (8.0-7.0). HUBBARD Top 40/M KQMV (MOVIN) was suddenly a lot closer as the #2 station just by minding its own business (6.8-6.8). ENTERCOM AC KSWD (THE SOUND) had its highest share in its new formatic digs (5.1-5.2) to move up to #3. However, three stations at #4 were not far off the pace.
BONEVILLE Talk KIRO-F dropped back a spot with its smallest share in over a year (5.9-4.8) while iHEARTMEDIA Classic Rock KZOK took a step upward with its fourth straight up book (4.5-4.8). Joining the party was HUBBARD AC KRWM (WARM), which advanced from a tie at #9 as it regained all of last month’s loss (4.0-4.8). Just missing out on making it a foursome was ENTERCOM Country KKWF (THE WOLF), which slipped to #7 despite posting its best score in over a year (4.5-4.7).
KQMV continued to dominate the 25-54 arena. The station was #1 for the third book in a row despite a modest loss. ENTERCOM Alternative KNDD (THE END) bounced back from a down book to return to #2 but was still a share off the lead. KUOW dropped back to #3 as it returned most of last month’s increase. ENTERCOM Active Rock KISW remained at #4 but with its lowest total in over a year. KKWF repeated at #5 with a slight decrease. Two stations previously tied at #11 had strong gains to move up the chart. iHEARTMEDIA Adult Hits KJAQ (JACK) was up to #6 with its best book since AUGUST. KRWM advanced to #7 where it was tied with KZOK.
For the fourth consecutive survey, KQMV was in double digits 18-34. KISW moved up to #2 but was about three shares off the lead. KNDD stepped up to #3 with a small increase while KUOW fell back to #4 as it returned most of last month’s huge gain. iHEARTMEDIA Top 40/M KBKS (KISS) was up three slots to #5 with its best book in over a year. KKWF was not far behind as it loped up to #6 with its best book since OCTOBER. ENTERCOM Rhythmic AC KHTP (HOT) was up four slots to #7 with its best showing since MAY. SINCLAIR Hot AC KPLZ (STAR) fell to #8.
The 18-49 demo group had the same top five players as last time with one small alteration. KQMV was #1 with a slight decrease while KNDD had a solid gain to remain #2 and trim the lead to a share and a half. KISW stepped up to #3 with a slight decrease as KUOW slid back to #4 with a slightly larger loss. KKWF held in place at #5 but with its third straight up book.
