Most sports fans probably would have expected Mayor Don Iveson to get up Wednesday morning and declare it Connor McDavid Day in Edmonton.
But he didn’t.
At 7 a.m. the mayor read a different proclamation:
“Whereas in 1953 Bryan Hall signed on to the airwaves for the first time, launching an unparalleled career in Edmonton broadcasting…
“And whereas for the past 65 years, Hallsy has become one of our city’s most well-known and treasured voices in bringing football and hockey games to life for countless Edmontonians…

There is a CFL broadcast on Youtube from 1970 with Bryan Hall arguing with a caller when he was at CJCA. Classic Hallsy and that hair!
Congratulations on 65 years.
Long before the internet if you wanted to listen to Bryan you had to be somewhere in Alberta. Often his commentary and discussion are more interesting than the actual sporting event. Back then if I was visiting friends or relatives in Edmonton listening to Hallsey was on my agenda
