Former Vancouver Anchor Tom Mark Working Fulltime in Vernon

Thanks to Gord Lansdell at Northwest Broadcasters for the news that former Vancouver broadcaster Tom Mark has been hired for full time morning news at Kiss FM 107.5 Vernon, his home for the past two years.  He’s been working at the station in a fill-in capacity.  It’s a homecoming of sorts for him, as he spent many years as News Director at Jim Pattison’s CJOR Vancouver during the 1980s and ’90s.  Mark was News Director at News 1130 CKWX AM Vancouver in the late 1990s and morning news anchor at CKNW AM 980 from 2001-14.

  1. Congrats, Tom. Expendable Vancouver broadcast vets should bear in mind that rewarding second acts can be achieved in the Interior. Granted, the pay is probably considerably less but then so is the cost of housing. (If I’m not mistaken, Terry David Mulligan pulled up stakes several years ago from the North Shore and settled into the Okanagan to host a weekly wine show and keep busy with other broadcast ventures.)

  2. Just want to say how much you are missed by an NW listener. You must have been making a lot of money because the kids they hired to replace you have limited skill sets that really dont belong on a major market.

Glad to see your working but wish you were still here.

  3. All the best Tom in your new full-time gig.. I know what it is like… when you hired me at CKWX, 20 years ago. All the best to you and yours.

    Andy
