Global BC Welcomes Return of Award Winning Journalist

Global News is proud to announce that journalist Robin Stickley will be returning to her roots in Vancouver this August to take on a new role as anchor of the Early News at 5 pm. In addition to her new role, Stickley will also be a regular contributor to the News Hour on Global BC.

An accomplished and award-winning journalist, Stickley has been a member of the Global News family for more than a decade. Most recently, she has been Global National’s Washington Correspondent covering major news out of the United States and from around the world. Highlights of Stickley’s coverage with Global National include reporting live from Battery Park, New York during hurricane Sandy in 2012, the Newtown shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary school in 2013, and the Boston Marathon bombings last spring.

Throughout her career, Stickley has covered several major national stories. She was one of the first reporters on the scene during the Taber, Alberta high school shooting and was on the ground in Kelowna, BC during the devastating 2009 forest fires that swept through the region. She also anchored coverage as Global BC broke into regular programming to report on the BC Ferry crash in Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver.

“We’re thrilled to have Robin back in BC,” said Kenton Boston, Vice President, Global BC and Global National. “She has a wealth of experience and we look forward to her contributions.”

Stickley is a familiar face to viewers in Vancouver. In 2004, she was a reporter with Global BC, and later hosted the weekend editions of the Morning News and the Noon News Hour. In 2009, she began anchoring Global BC’s weekend News Hour.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to be returning to BC to the home I love and a newsroom team that is family to me,” said Robin Stickley. “In taking on this role I want to acknowledge Deb Hope, a tremendously generous and respected colleague who earned our viewers trust and affection. I’m privileged to walk in her footsteps, working to carry on that tradition.”

Stickley will make her return to BC television news early August.
