The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation announced Thursday it has severed ties with Chris Boyce and Todd Spencer, the two executives who have been on leave since early January as part of its investigation into the Jian Ghomeshi scandal.
Mr. Spencer was executive director of Human Resources and Industrial Relations. Mr. Boyce was the executive director of radio and audio.
In a note sent to staff minutes before the release of a report by the law firm Rubin Thomlinson, Heather Conway, the executive vice-president of CBC English Services said: “Both of these individuals have a long history with the CBC and we thank them for their service.”
The report, five months in the making and drawing on interviews with 99 people – though not Mr. Ghomeshi himself – determines that the former Q host yelled, belittled, and humiliated those with whom he worked, and that his actions “consistently breached the Behavourial Standard” of the CBC workplace.
