We’re very sad to report, long time radio man and friend, Ted Wendland (Radio Fan) died March 21st of kidney failure in Penticton. He was 72.

Ted started his radio career as Music Director at CFMI and CKNW. He then did a short tour at CJJC-AM in Langley as music director and doing an on-air shift, before returning to CKNW and CFMI where he remained for 5 years,. Ted then took his talents, with a move across the mountains, landimg in Calgary, Alberta  where he lived for nine years at CHQR-AM, as music dirctor. He then returned to the west coast and CKNW and CFMI as remote engineer. He then moved over to CISL and CKZZ-FM taking up the same position.

In 1997, he founded “Puget Sound Radio Guide” as the webmaster, a position he held until 2006, when he launched Radio West. He also founded Calgary Broadcasters and took over BC Radio History from fellow radio man, Jack Bennest.. Ted was in radio during the best times of the industry.

Not only will you be missed, Ted, but so will our lenghty telephone chats.

You left us far too soon, my friend.

Michael
