The news came as a shock when I read this morning’s obit in the Times Colonist, and there was my longtime good friend Fraser McAlpine, who died December 29th, 2024 in Penticton. Fraser did mornings on CKDA 1220am, then crossed the street to CJVI am 900, also doing mornings. When John Ansel came to town to take over CJVI, and turned it country music, Fraser left the air and joined the sales department at CJVI, and did very well. He later left the industry and turned up detailing cars for Budget Rent-car at the airport, for a season. He was then hired as the supervisor of Coal Island for a few years. When he met his childhood sweetheart, Eileen, they spent many happy years travelling in their motorhome across Canada and throughout the United States, eventually settling in Penticton, British Columbia. Fraser was 87.
Heartfelt Condolences to his wife, Eileen and his daughters, Janet and Karol.
