CEO Catherine Tait shamelessly attacks Pierre Poilievre for ‘stoking’ criticism of the broadcaster
It has to be the top unabbreviable qualification of the president of the nation’s largest, publicly funded communications instrument — CBC — that she has some understanding of … communications.
That she knows how to communicate with the public her organization is subsidized to communicate with.
This is plainly, painfully, not the case.
Catherine Tait has suggested in public that one of the reasons the CBC is in decline is because it is being attacked by Conservative party leader Pierre Poilievre. “There’s a lot of CBC bashing going on — somewhat stoked by the Leader of the Opposition,” she told the Globe and Mail, frustrated over the party’s “defund the CBC” campaign. “I think they feel that CBC is a mouthpiece for the Liberal government.”

The CBC has been bashed long before PP appeared on the screen.
Any news organization that is funded by any government cannot be trusted to be impartial, and once again has proven where its loyalties lie, the Liberal Party and hovernment handouts
What a sorry state the CBC is in, Shame, shame, shame…
Habib has it right. Once you’ve accepted money, it is impossible to bite the hand that feeds you. Whether Liberal, Conservative or NDP, they will put money into the hands of those they can control. It’s corruption at its most obvious level.
Apart from the news programming and HNIC, does anyone watch the CBC anymore? Perhaps those who wish to keep abreast of the developments on Coronation Street. Are there any Canadian programs that people watch faithfully every week and discuss the following day at work? The CBC boasts of its programming “for Canadians, by Canadians, and about Canadians.” Can you name any?
