PRINCE GEORGE- The general manager of Pattison Media Prince George has been given a prestigious award for his long lasting broadcasting career.
Kevin Gemmell has been awarded the BC Association of Broadcasters ‘Broadcaster of the Year’ award. Gemmell has worked in the broadcasting industry for 27 years, spending time in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. The award recognizes his long lasting impact on the broadcasting industry, not just on air but also out in the community and the boardroom.
Gemmell is the past president of the BCAB, and has also served on the board of the Chamber of Commerce in four different cities.

I’m sure the award is well-deserved, but for those of us not familiar with this gentleman, what exactly did he do this past year that was so innovative or creative, to merit receiving the award. Please enlighten if you know.

Kevin has had a very successful career in radio, which began in 1996 with Fabmar Communications in Melfort, Sask, as an announcer, later moving into sales becoming sales, then became station manager and sales manager. In 2008, Fabmar moved Kevin out to their Chilliwack station having launched CHWK-FM becoming General Manager. It was in January or 2020, Pattison Media hire him as station manager of their Prince George Cluster, CKPG-TV, which includes the cluster of 993 The Drive, 101.3 The River and CKPGToday.ca…

Congratulations on your award, Kevin! It couldn’t have been given to a more kind and well-deserving person. I still have fond memories of meeting you at BCAB 2014 and 2015, as well as sharing drinks with Glen Slingerland and you in Chilliwack in early summer 2015. Glad to hear you are continuing to find success in PG!
