Just got this from my friend John Henry Oliver:
“It is with great sadness I tell you my close, dear friend of 46 years, Rich Elwood, passed away Thursday at age 67. A radio personality, actor, stand-up comedian and comedy club owner in Vancouver. We first met during our radio days in Hamilton. Rich a Toronto boy, myself a Vancouver boy. Eventually, we both ended up on the west coast in radio.
One of the funniest people I have ever known and has always been a true friend. A risk-taker, an entrepreneur who never quit in his efforts to bring quality comedy to Vancouver and his Punchlines Comedy Theatre. Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Norm Macdonald, Howie Mandel, they and other greats all headlined at Punchlines. His radio career in Vancouver included C-FUN as a disc jockey and CKNW as a talk show host.”
I was lucky enough to have Rich as MC for my 50th Anniversary In Radio
RIP Rich Elwood. A comedy legend in Vancouver.
Thanks for such a beautiful post. He was a funny guy and a great big brother.
Saw someone mention that he had Covid?
