“Sadly, journalism has changed a lot since I first stepped into a newsroom – and I’ll be honest: I don’t like the direction it’s going,” Emmy award-winning News Anchor Kari Lake says in a video explaining why she’s quitting a successful 22-year career with Arizona television station KSAZ Fox-10.

The media’s bias, dishonestly and encouragement of fear and division has robbed her of the pride she once took in her profession, Lake says in a video she posted on her Rumble account on Monday:

  1. “The media’s bias, dishonestly and encouragement of fear and division” It says it all.

This is exactly what is practiced at every major network affiliate in Seattle. They are using fear to create division and racism where it isn’t, tell stories through biased filters to promote agendas and ultimately improve their ratings. All the lead ins to the evening newscasts are evidence of this. True “journalists” are there but afraid to tell an accurate story for fear of losing their job.

The only exception I can think of is Eric Johnson at KOMO.

  2. Hats off to Kari Lake.
Are any broadcasters reading this willing to stand up for what’s right and the people like Kari Lake has?

  3. Hey Louis, thanks for pointing out the KOMO guy. In Seattle, if you switch over to radio, Dory Monson on KIRO is another one who tells it like it is.

  4. A long time ago in a media landscape far away – The governing body of the media landscape mandated fair and balanced reporting. Editorials had to clearly be tagged as such.
There was an expectation that facts were facts: The sky is blue, the sun rises in the east.
Debates in the halls of power although vigorous would not lead to the wholesale venom filled rhetoric that is heard today.
In that landscape far away a long time ago – political parties strived to govern in a manor that respected an apposing point of view as legislation was passed.
How did we get to here from there? Over several decades the regulations were watered down or eliminated. Media ownership became more concentrated and those corporate bosses seemed to more and more dictate the media slant to the left or right – depending on who the bosses supported politically.
It took courage for Kari Lake to say this and it was done with class – a real pro. She was respectful to her former employer while stating her reasons for leaving her profession.
I am thinking that Ben Franklin had the right of when he said: “Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.”

  5. After I posted the above I had a e-mail discussion with a friend – I asked him how he would describe the extremist political types we hear on the news channels these days.
My friend used the word “nihilistic”. I asked him to define the word for me- He sent me the following from a online dictionary – Point 1 describes much of what has been pontificated by political types over the past number of years…Point 2 through 6 shows the extremes this nihilism can take.
    “”nihilism { nahy-uh-liz-uhm} noun
    1. total rejection of established laws and institutions.
    2. anarchy, terrorism, or other revolutionary activity.
    3. total and absolute destructiveness, especially toward the world at large and including oneself:
    4. the power-mad nihilism that marked Hitler’s last years.
    Philosophy.
    5. an extreme form of skepticism: the denial of all real existence or the possibility of an objective basis for truth.
    6. nothingness or nonexistence.
(sometimes initial capital letter) the principles of a Russian revolutionary group, active in the latter half of the 19th century, holding that existing social and political institutions must be destroyed in order to clear the way for a new state of society and employing extreme measures, including terrorism and assassination.””
