  1. Oh how I miss the good ol’ days when radio stations had THEIR OWN overnight announcers. Yes, I know, networking, networking. And an entrepreneurial show overnight? At least that’ll help me get to sleep fast.

  2. No reception on some week nights in the evenings in our area while upgrades going on. These new weekend shows are already sounding as enjoyable as most people’s snoring thru them. in these times people need humour, some lightening up, and even music. There are lots of people with interesting stories to tell and lots of us like to listen, especially from other towns or cities. I’ve listened to CKNW most of my life and It was far from boring at the best of times, Corus needs to bring in more of an audience with entertaining it’s listeners, what are weekends for?

  3. Oh brother. More infomercials. Just what CHED needs. Their programming NOW is one giant parade of obnoxious commercials interrupted by just enough “program” to make things legal. All with such poor technical quality that make their sound resemble broadcasting over a telephone.

I’m glad I’ve got unlimited Internet. I can listen to talk radio from around the world, and watch videos from independent producers on YouTube and BitChute. Why bother with local commercial radio at all?

  4. Oh Brother, infomercials don’t have to be boring. It depends almost entirely on the host. I see CKNW tapped Manny Buzunis to host a number of their infomercial shows. When he worked for Bell Media, he was always our go-to guy. Great with clients, and his huge business/broadcast background allowed him to make an infomercial show sound anything but. If you connect with a client on the air, ask the right questions, tell a great story, good chance it will connect with the audience. It’s all about rapport. Maybe CHED needs to revisit their infomercial hosts…those shows are not going away. They’re too lucrative. Give the newbies a chance, then make a decision whether they and their shows are listenable.
