PSR is saddened to report long time Edmonton broadcaster Tim Dancy died over the weekend. He had been battling with cancer. He was 68.
Tim posted on his facebook page, he has 45 years under his belt, in TV and Radio production of Sports, News, Lifestyles, History, the Arts etc.

Former EDMONTON OILERS and SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS and EDMONTON ESKIMOS play-by-play voice and CHED-A/EDMONTON personality TIM DANCY passed away after a battle with cancer at 68, reports GLOBAL NEWS.
Most recently a sportscaster for SHAW CABLE in EDMONTON since 1986, DANCY began his career as a sportscaster at CJGX-A/YORKTON, SK, moving on to serve as Sports Dir. at CKRD-A/RED DEER, AB and calling the CFL’s ROUGHRIDERS road games at CKCK-A/REGINA, SK, then, after a brief stint at the CBC’s CBX-A/EDMONTON, joined then-independent CITV (TV)/EDMONTON in 1978 as Sports Dir., where he called OILERS and ESKIMOS games. He moved on to CKRM-A/REGINA, SK to call the ROUGHRIDERS games again in 1983-86 before returning to EDMONTON at cable’s QCTV in 1987.
Sad news–condolences to his loved ones. I enjoyed working with Tim in the press box at Renfrew Park during the Edmonton Trappers’ first season in 1981. My favourite memory of him is when he said “the one guy they’ve got to get rid of is that Agosto–he’s terrible!” Juan Agosto went on to have the longest major league career of any member of that ’81 team–no doubt to Tim’s amazement.
I met him in Edmonton he interviewed my band for shaw tv several times . He was a great friend and nice guy . Rest In Peace .
I worked with Tim at QCTV in Edmonton, Great guy, knew and loved sports. RIP Tim!
As a fellow member of the Edmonton media pool I always admired Tim’s large and broad skill set. His work at Shaw producing and hosting features on regional and touring cultural acts of various stripes has been sorely missed the last few years. TIm gave us a deeper understanding of his subjects, as he was one of those interviewers who made musicians feel comfortable and because of that they were willing to open up.
Although I never had the chance to socialize with Tim I always got the impression that he was a really nice cat who loved this community,
