What a bloody insult to the intelligence of Calgarians! Piss on you Corus!
Bro Jake was the best. Radio is dead now
A Vancouver morning show on the Calgary radio airwaves. Nothing can go wrong. hahaha
Here’s how it should have gone down:
A Vancouver vice president enters the programming meeting and says, “Hey guys! I’ve got a great idea!”
BLAM!!
Wow. So when the show is going through content ideas, are they now having to consider being even MORE generic, as to not alienate Calgary?
This will ensure neither Vancouver or Calgary audiences will be satisfied.
BRILLIANT!
This can’t be any worse than when they brought in Terry Demonte several years back! That didn’t turn out so well.
I hope they all get a raise from this new adventure. I dont like Corus either but its all about entertaining the general public for less money. This is 2019 after all!
Why not just have one morning show coming from the Centre Of The Universe? Time zones?
The audience doesn’t matter so it must be time zones.
Radio is dead.
I am insulted by this absolutely thoughtless decision. Bean counters tore the business down to it’s knees, programmers continue to bring it to it’s heels. For those of us responsible for building stations to prominence, please excuse us for caring, as you continue to default to stupidity.
Check out what Corus did in Hamilton with the PM drive spot. It’s now “best of” out of Seattle.

Is he next on the Corus guillotine?
After celebrating CKNW’S 75 YEARS Corus will likely announce they plan to sell this once TOP DOG to the first buyer. Anything for a buck, eh?
Well crap. There I was at work this morning in Airdrie, helping restore the last Twin Otter that DeHavilland ever built. (“I’ll take questionable career choices for six hundred, Alex”). Someone (finally) switched over from that lame radio station with the too-short play list to Q107. The announcer sounded familiar, a dead ringer for one Willy Percy. This Willy guy was kind of a big deal on stations like C-FOX, Jack and Rock 101 in Vancouver from as far back as the 80s, funny as hell and a decent guy to boot. I knew him from Pacific Flying Club, and he saved my ass from the wrath of that club’s dispatcher Margaret (aka: Ilsa the Nazi she-wolf) at her 50th birthday party (which I was MC-ing) by stepping into the breach and presenting her with the werewolf mask I’d purchased for her to wear. But back to the present: A few minutes later the Willy In The Morning promo/blurb came on. That of course explained everything. Gentlemen, I think we’ve found our new morning radio station. Anyone caught switching it back gets a rivet gun upside the head. Something makes no sense at all though: Willy, why Calgary? You and Larry used to vilify idiots in Winnebagos with Alberta plates tying up major arterial routes in the lower mainland, and then got even by staging a “Winnebago pay-back tour”, renting a motorhome, cruising through Calgary, staging “breakdowns” and then calling in the traffic snarls you created to the local stations. And now you’ve MOVED to this motorhome seventh circle of hell?? Good to have you here, but whatever dude. Welcome to Alberta, and cheers. – Brett.
