SEATTLE-TACOMA: A Photo Finish
Last month both iHEARTMEDIA Classic Rock KZOK and HUBBARD Top 40/M KQMV (MOVIN) were tied at #2 6+. The stations were still tied this time but had a loftier perch (hint: #1). KZOK was up for the seventh book in a row (6.0-6.1) while MOVIN was just up (6.0-6.1). UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON N/T KUOW gave back all of last month’s increase (6.1-5.6) to fall back to #3. ENTERCOM Active Rock KISW was up three places to #4 with its third up book in a row (4.5-4.8). BONNEVILLE Talk KIRO-F remained at #5 (4.9-4.6) while three stations were nearby at #6. ENTERCOM Country KKWF (THE WOLF) dropped back from #4 (5.0-4.5) while ENTERCOM AC KSWD (THE SOUND) moved up a spot (4.5-4.5). Making it a cluster three-way was iHEARTMEDIA Adult Hits KJAQ (JACK), which turned it up from eleven with its best book in over a year (3.7-4.5).
There was far less drama 25-54 as KQMV captured the crown for the sixth book in a row. The station regained all of last month’s lost share to lead the market by nearly a share and a half. KISW moved up to #2 with its best outing since DECEMBER. This pushed ENTERCOM Alternative KNDD (THE END) back to #3 even though it got back most of last survey’s loss. KZOK inched up to #4 with its best showing since AUGUST. HUBBARD AC KRWM (WARM) stepped up to #5 with a flat performance while KKWF slipped to #6 with a small loss.
The 18-34 arena had quite a few changes. KISW moved back to #1 for the first time since AUGUST thanks to its best share in over a year. KQMV was flat and fell back to #2. What had been a small advantage turned into a share-plus deficit. The big mover was HUBBARD Country KNUC (THE BULL), which charged from #10 to #3 with its sixth straight up book. KZOK awoke alone at #4 with a slight decrease. Its former partner – KNDD – stepped back to #5. It was tied with ENTERCOM Rhythmic AC KHTP (HOT), which moved up from #9 with its highest mark in over a year. iHEARTMEDIA Top 40/M KBKS (KISS) fell from #3 to a tie at #11 with its lowest total since Santa was doing his thing.
KQMV was flat and steady as the #1 station 18-49. KISW remained #2 but cut the lead in about half. KNDD repeated at #3 with a slight increase while KNUC moved up to #4 with its highest share in over a year. KRWM stepped back to #5 despite a slight increase while its former partner in that space – KKWF – dropped to #6 just by being flat. KJAQ had a huge increase, which propelled the station from a tie at #11 to #7, where it was tied with KZOK.
