CTV News Chief Anchor and Senior Editor Lisa LaFlamme
CTV News’ Chief News Anchor and Senior Editor Lisa LaFlamme has been named Officer of the Order of Canada for her contributions to journalism and support of human rights.
The appointment, announced Thursday, is one of Canada’s highest honours.
“Lisa is a trailblazer for women in Canadian news broadcasting, and has continually demonstrated excellence in her work while tirelessly advocating for democracy in journalism and human rights in Canada and abroad,” CTV News President Wendy Freeman said. “We are thrilled to see Lisa recognized for her outstanding achievements and contributions to journalism.”
Bell Media President Randy Lennox also congratulated LaFlamme “on this tremendous honour.”
“Lisa is a true leader within our news division and the company as a whole, serving Canadians with professionalism and integrity while passionately working to help change lives through international humanitarian organizations,” he said.
LaFlamme has been covering major news stories from across Canada and around the world for more than 30 years with CTV. In 2011, she was named the Chief Anchor and Senior Editor of CTV National News.

But, I could have sworn that I detected Ms. LaFlamme’s biases that did not – at all – appear to be excellence in “journalism.”

“Started from the bottom, now she’s here.” Everyone in Kitchener/Waterloo very proud of our hometown gal Lisa LaFlamme. Got her start at CKCO-TV (CTV Southwestern Ontario) and worked her way to the top step by step. Well deserved Lisa!

All good anchors Mark, can’t argue that any you mentioned aren’t first class. Not sure I should be considered on this list though!! But thanks for naming me first! So Lisa is not in this group because she is biased and kisses you know who’s tookus? Hmm you didn’t give us examples of this though. Also interesting to note that both lloyd and knowlton have the order of canada as well. Sandi renaldo, not sure if she is in this group as yet. Judging by the ratings canadians seem to like what lisa and ctv is offering up every night. I don’t always agree with everything on the news and feel that some issues or stories are given too much airtime, but that doesn’t necessarily mean bias though. I can disagree with some stories or the emphasis on CNN, Fox, CBC, CTV, Global etc. etc. but hey, maybe sometimes i am missing something. Can’t be right all time!!

Being a good establishment toady is what got her an award. When did Ms. LaFlamme ever challenge authority on the air? She’s just a visible cog in the propoganda machine owned by the corporate media and in my humble opinion a medicocre talking head.
Sure she works for a big establishment company, so that makes her automatically a toady?
Lisa’s job is to report the days news and that is what she does. As did Lloyd, Peter, Knowlton, and in the US Walter,Tom, and Dan. First names only please for these toady male anchors.
Her job as a news anchor is not opinion, so therefore your comment about her challenging authority is inaccurate. She can and does on occasion question or challenge when interviewing a guest or a colleague but the main job of an anchor is to report the days news, not to give Lisa’s take on stories.
No doubt she has a huge influence on what stories and how stories are reported every evening. And the show itself can be designed for challenging and questioning with featured reports or analysis on subjects, but overall the program that Lisa anchors is reporting the days news.
Given the list of recipients this year is there anyone in this country who doesn’t have one.

50’s broadcast school one can understand strong feelings
about her on air image.
