OTTAWA — The appointment of singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie to the Order of Canada has been terminated by the Governor General.
The move was announced in the Canada Gazette, the federal government newspaper.
It says the appointment was terminated by an ordinance signed by Gov. Gen. Mary Simon on Jan. 3.
Family members in the U.S. told CBC that Sainte-Marie was not adopted and doesn’t have Indigenous ancestry.

A rather hypocritical move. Was she given the order of Canada because of her indigenous ancestry or because of her talent?
I’m guessing as much the former as the latter, but now that the truth is out (that Beverly Santamaria – her real name – was never who she claimed to be for decades), she’s getting her just deserts – don’t be surprised, though, that she’s trying to pull a Rachel Dolezal and continue to falsely claim Indigenous ancestry when she’s really white and of European ancestry.
