Medicine Hat Morning Man John Carter dies

Medicine Hat, Alberta

It’s with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved co-host and dear friend, John Carter, on Christmas Eve at the age of 72.

For the last 13 years, John wasn’t just a mentor—he was a source of wisdom, humor, and endless entertainment. On air, we often sounded like a bickering married couple, but beneath the banter was a deep respect and an unshakable bond.

John’s larger-than-life personality and wit made him a cherished voice in Medicine Hat and beyond. He had a way of touching lives through a story and laughter.

He will be deeply missed by me, by our listeners, and by the countless people fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. Medicine Hat has lost a legend, and I have lost a dear friend.

Rest easy, John. The studio won’t be the same without you.
