Is This Love?
Survivor is an American rock band formed in Chicago in 1978 by Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan. The band achieved its best success in the 1980s, producing many charting singles, especially in the United States. The band is best-known for their double-platinum-certified 1982 hit “Eye of the Tiger“, the theme song for the 1982 motion picture Rocky III;[1] that single spent six weeks at number one in the US. The band continued to chart in the mid-1980s with singles like “Burning Heart”[2][3] (US number 2), “The Search Is Over” (US number 4), “High on You” (US number 8), “Is This Love” (US number 9), and “I Can’t Hold Back.” Before Survivor formed, Jim Peterik was the lead vocalist–guitarist for the band The Ides of March.[4] The Jim Peterik Band formed after Peterik had released his album Don’t Fight the Feeling on Epic Records in 1976. The liner notes of the album, written by Jim Charney, refer to Peterik as a “survivor”. This note inspired the name of Peterik’s next grouping.

Great song/band RIP Jimi
When Seconds Count album. Very rarely will I like a whole album, but this is one of those rare times. This band, something about the combination of vocals and music that appeals to that sense of fight in us. Now i know why they used this band for Rocky. It’s unfortunate the vocalist is not with us however we’re fortunate the music lives on as it is; I couldn’t imagine it any different.
One of those bands I really enjoyed and still, to this day, I question why they never took off in Canada. I remember them all over MTV. The Rocky Soundtracks. The Countdown Shows we used to be able to pick up from the Bellingham and Seattle radio stations in the Fraser Valley, yet no impact up here. I seem to recall “The Search is Over” and “Burning Heart” had some staying power and measured up here, but all of those other songs? So good for 80’s Soft Rock, at least. Most stations are still rolling out ‘Eye of the Tiger’. “High On You” “Can’t Hold Back” SO GOOD. (Impressionable Teen, I guess) Great spotlight, thanks for this memory.
