Wonder if 104.3 the breeze will change to sports too on the labour day weekend or after Christmas…. Either that, or it might get sold to corus and change to a cknw simulcast after Christmas….
An interesting point. Has the relaxing favourites format not been successful? The sports format is already with CISL and Bell closed CKST AM 1040 sports radio, so the change to sports might not be feasible. A simulcast with CKNW would be interesting, though, but would the state broadcast regulator approve it?
The AM 1260 frequency had a strong history in Edmonton. For years it was CFRN, a powerful news and information outlet. As I recall, CFRN television was the first tv station in Edmonton. It still operates as the CTV affiliate in that city.
However, early this year the Calgary classic rock station switched to a simulcast of Calgary news/talk station, so it could actually happen. The breeze fm format has not been exactly the most successful in the world ratings wise. And given whether the change to sports might not happen, it’s up to management.

Interesting how a little city in Alberta loses their own radio station.
Just heard the station will still be oldies a bit late overnights and weekends since labour day monday. Kinda odd.
