The Tremeloes are an English beat group founded in 1958 in Dagenham, England.[2] They initially found success in the British Invasion era with lead singer Brian Poole, scoring a UK chart-topper in 1963 with “Do You Love Me“. After Poole’s departure in 1966, the band achieved further success as a four-piece with 13 top 40 hits on the UK Singles Chart between 1967 and 1971 including “Here Comes My Baby“, “Even the Bad Times Are Good“, “(Call Me) Number One“, “Me and My Life” and their most successful single, “Silence Is Golden” (1967).[3]

Guy likes a girl whose boy friend is cheating on her. Is he doing her a favour by shutting up?
Or is he just being selfishly strategic? If he tells her, she will hate him for breaking the bad news. (“And if I tried I know she’d say I lied”). But if he waits until she learns the truth, he can rush in to pick up the pieces.
Yeh sometimes it is best to keep your mouth shut, but ultimately isn’t the truth more important.
