Cam Tait: Canadian radio icon Roy Hennessy’s career one of opening doors, bringing people together

Roy Hennessy’s radio career began 1962 in Penticton, before moving to Vancouver, followed by stops in Edmonton and Winnipeg, Calgary and Toronto. He died on June 7, 2022. 
Roy Hennessy reached across the freshly pressed white tablecloth draped over his table at Yeoman’s Steakhouse, for a plastic straw, placed it into an elegant mug of cold beer and clinked it with his glass.

“I wish this was champagne but it’s beer,” Hennessy said that 1981 September noon hour.
