Billy Gibbons guitar playing ability, in my opinion, seldom gets the credit it’s due. When you listen to sound when it’s clean, his pickwork and fretting is spot on. He gets the most out of everything a string, pickup and guitar can deliver. Distortion and pedals take a little away from the nuance and don’t quite allow to see all the talent lying underneath.
But hey. “La Grange”. C’mon, who hasn’t done the head and chest “up and down” when the into hits? My old Advents would get the big workout when I dropped the needle on that one and cranked it though my Sansui.
