RTDNA Canada Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding service and continued
excellence in his journalism career.
RTDNA President Fiona Conway said, “Congratulations Gord Macdonald on RTDNA’s
recognition for your incredible career in radio — you’re such a well-known voice to British
Columbians!”

For more than 45 years, including 30-and-counting at Vancouver radio giant CKNW, Gord Macdonald has been a leading voice in radio journalism in BC.
Gord’s journalistic voyage began with stops at radio news and sports desks in Victoria, Guelph, and Brandon, Manitoba, before moving on to become News Director for KBS, the Kootenay Broadcasting System. Gord then made his way to BC’s Western Information Network, getting airplay across the province and on flagship station CKNW.
Around this same time, Gord was making a mark at BCIT, where he became head of the Broadcast Journalism program. Tough, demanding, but always fair, Gord would leave a mark on literally hundreds of young journalists while leading that program.
In 1991, Gord stepped into the shoes of a titan in Canadian broadcasting: Gord became CKNW
News Director, replacing the legendary Warren Barker. Gord would lead the newsroom with
distinction, achieving market-leading ratings and award-winning coverage. And that
newsroom always had the passion, intensity and work ethic Gord is known for.
He covered all the big stories, from Olympics to Stanley Cup riots to political scandals. He
hosted talk shows. He’s had a vast, meaningful impact on hundreds of journalists, from
rookies to veterans. Today, his iconic and familiar voice greets radio listeners across Metro
Vancouver every morning.

Congratulations to Gord Macdonald! He certainly deserves the recognition for all the years he has dedicated to the news media and as a fan, his voice and presentation of the morning news on CKNW is a part of this listeners weekday routine.
Gord as a 3rd generation ckn w listener all I can say is many thanks for all your years of hard work, and may we hear you for many more to come.
MacDonald is a schill for Trudeau, and Horgan. His news stories always prop up the government narrative. He never forgets to throw in some anti USA bias as well. He is brutal. To be honest the whole station is a liberal left wing propaganda machine.
