Supporters of the 17th annual Country 105 Caring For Kids Radiothon have responded with incredible generosity to help children and families at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. That generosity was then doubled when the Crist Family Foundation matched every single donation!
Minutes before wrapping up on Friday night, on-air personalities from Country 105 announced that radiothon supporters had phoned, clicked online and walked into the hospital with a record-breaking $1.86 million in gifts! With matching funds added, this year’s event raised over $3.7 million for the Alberta Children’s Hospital. This brings the overall Radiothon total to more than $35 million since 2003!
“We know that these are tough times for many people in our province, which makes support for the hospital – and the children who need it – even more special,” said Saifa Koonar, President & CEO of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Radiothon has always been an opportunity for us to come together as a community. And we are so humbled that our generous community continues to stand beside these families.”
Over the course of the three days, nearly 70 families shared their personal stories with Country 105. Each family expressed their gratitude for the exceptional care they received from specialists at the Alberta Children’s Hospital – and helped to highlight in very real terms how donations help save and change lives at the hospital every day.
“The opportunity to have every donation matched was incredibly exciting because it means we can do even more for the Alberta Children’s Hospital,” said Phil Kallsen, Program Director, Country 105. “Radiothon is the most meaningful part of our year at Country 105. It’s really inspiring to see our listeners step up again this year to so generously support the kids and families at the hospital.”
The official phone bank sponsor of this year’s event – for the tenth year in a row – was Brookfield Residential. |
