Winnipeg’s radio landscape has dialled up a successful roadmap in the latest ratings book to cap off the Spring 2019 period.
Numeris, the company that measures such data, released its latest numbers on Thursday. Among the top leaders are the usual big three — CBC Radio One, 680 CJOB and QX 104. CBC Manitoba continues to dominate the dial with its commercial-free brand of news, talk and light music.
Just below it, Corus Entertainment’s 680 CJOB reigns supreme as the news talk leader in the city, followed by country powerhouse QX 104, which ranked #1 as the FM-only station to top the chart.
Heidi Rasmussen, general manager of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, contributes the success of QX 104 to program director Janet Trecarten, along with David Drake, program director at sister station 94-3 The Drive.
“The good news is that QX remains the #1 station in the market 12+ and The Drive had the largest increase overall, ranking #1 35-54 and #2 35-64,” she told ChrisD.ca.
Other notable chart-jumpers include Bell Media’s 99.9 BOB FM and TSN 1290, who both increased their shares from last season. Peggy @ 991 (Corus), Hot 100.5 (Evanov Radio Group), 92.1 CITI (Rogers) and CBC Radio 2 also reported bumps in their listenership.
The below data is for the 12+ demographic, with the Fall 2018 ratings in parentheses for comparison. Numeris measured the listening period from March 4 to April 28.
