MEANEY, Richard (Rick) Patrick

Rick Meaney, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the age of 71 years.
Rick graduated from Loyola College with a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics in 1970. He then worked at the Professional Ski Patrol at Lake Louise for the next three years. In the summer he enjoyed working for Parks Canada before moving to Ottawa and was an employee of BP Oil for two years. Rick joined Revenue Canada in 1974, completed tax school, and moved to Calgary in 1978.
In 1982 he started Country 105 with Mr. R.E. Redmond and was the General Manager there for over eighteen years. In that time Country 105 became the #1 Country Music Station in Canada. In his final two years in the radio business Rick, was the Corus Radio General Manager where he oversaw the success of Country 105, CHQR 770 and The Peake 107.1.
After retiring from the radio business he and his wife purchased a home in Arizona and spent many happy and active years in the Arizona sun.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Blanchard; his children, Robert Meaney, Christopher Meaney, Ryan Meaney and Bryant Loyd; his grandchildren, Austin, Nash, Braden, and Madden Meaney; his brother, Kevin (Wanda) Meaney and sister, Teresa Harvey; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
Rick was predeceased by Cheryl Redmond, mother to Robert, Christopher and Ryan; and his mother and father, Eileen Potter and Gerald Meaney.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
