Elmarie Wendel, best known for her role in 3rd Rock From the Sun as Mrs. Dubcek, has died, her daughter confirmed. She was 89.
The actress’ daughter, Jennifer “J.C.” Wendel, confirmed the news in an Instagram post Saturday night, sharing an image of Wendel along with her 3rd Rock castmates for the series’ centennial episode.
“#ripelmariewendel. You were a great mom and a badass dame,” the actress’s daughter wrote.
Mendel’s 3rd Rock co-star Jim Beaver, who played Happy Doug on the series, also paid tribute to the actress on Twitter, recalling Wendel’s “raucous” personality and “terribly sweet” demeanor.
“I’ve just heard from her daughter JC that my friend and colleague from 3rd ROCK FROM THE SUN, Elmarie Wendel, has died. She was raucous, funny, endearing, and terribly, terribly sweet. Goodnight, Mrs. Dubcek, wherever you are,” the actor tweeted on Sunday.
