A former ESPN personality found herself mired in controversy on Friday after claiming that she was demoted within the company for being white.
Britt McHenry made the allegation during an exchange with a social media user on Twitter.
‘No I was demoted because I was white & made too much,’ McHenry said in response to a sarcastic comment concerning her on-air skills. ‘First to go. Actually…’

Included in the first round of cuts was McHenry, who was initially demoted from her reporter position at the network.
By Friday afternoon, McHenry had apparently deleted the tweet. A cursory look at her Twitter history shows the message missing from her profile.
A screenshot of the tweet, however, surfaced just a few hours later, providing evidence that the former reporter believed she was sacked due to the color of her skin.

According to deadspin.com, McHenry’s contract was honored in full but it hardly stopped her from trashing her former employer, accusing the network of suppresing her ‘conservative views.’
