Voice of UW Huskies Bob Rondeau to Retire after “One More Year”

Play-by-play announcer Bob Rondeau, the voice of Washington Huskies for nearly four decades, will retire at the end of the 2017 football season                                               .

The 67-year-old began broadcasting Husky football games in 1978, taking over play-by-play duties from Bruce King in 1981. Rondeau has also served as the voice of Washington’s men’s basketball team for the past 31 years and was inducted into the school’s athletics hall of fame last year.

Rondeau came to Seattle after taking over as sports director at KOMO radio in 1977. He will retire as the second-longest tenured football play-by-play radio broadcaster in the Pac-12.
