The Global News investigative program 16×9 has been cancelled as part of job cuts and programming changes designed to slash costs as the news network merges with its new owner, Corus Entertainment Inc.
A vice-president at Global broke the news to stunned 16×9 staff one by one on Tuesday, praising their investigative work and saying financial considerations drove the decision. As many as 10 employees from the program, most of them producers or associate producers, were dismissed, while others will be transferred to a new investigative unit.

Global quality has been dropping overall for some time but is approaching freefall. Even the star BCTV is increasingly banal and serves as a shill for wineries, distilleries and real estate companies. It seems like only a half-dozen advertisers are left and how many more hundred times can we watch Bill Good and those tacky Capital Direct commercials. If I were Christine, I would turf those dweebs out of my kitchen to complete the expensive transformation properly.
