She has been in many ways a pioneer for female newscasters on the West Coast, and next Thursday CBC Vancouver’s Cecilia Walters will work her last shift.
She has been a regular news voice on both CBC Radio & Television in Vancouver since 1982, and joined the morning radio news show The Early Edition in September 1997.
Walters was formerly a host of the Radio One midday program Almanac, and co-anchored The CBC Evening News with Bill Good on CBC Television for seven years in the 1980’s.
Never had the opportunity to work with Cecelia and that’s too bad. Unwind well in retirement.
The best newscaster in Vancouver.
Hope she enjoys her freedom.
I am not at all surprised to hear this. With all due respect, for the last few years she hasn’t been able to get through a newscast without one, or several, verbal flubs, which gets to be pretty distracting. That being said, I do wish her well and a happy and healthy retirement…
