Recent research from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) reports, not surprisingly, that digital technology is driving growth in newsgathering, editing and distribution at radio and television stations across the country.
But, while overall adoption of digital technology continues to accelerate — especially in TV newsrooms — purchases of new digital equipment have slowed in radio.
RTDNA reports that nearly 79% of radio operations that responded to the survey plan no new digital gear-buying this year.
Digital audio recorders topped the list for those radio station newsrooms that do find themselves with a buying budget, with smartphones and tablets coming in far down that list.
