RTDNA British Columbia Awards Night April 18th

Hi Folks,

I just wanted to weigh in saying this years event is set to be one of the best we’ve had in years. Doriana Temolo at Global is co-chair and we have some great news about the program. Firstly, we’ve moved it back downtown. It will be at the Pan Pacific which is a very nice venue. We will make sure there are a couple of bottles of wine on each table, courtesy our fine sponsors and we have some very cool door prizes. This includes Canucks, Lions and Whitecaps tickets and I am offering a 20 minute tour for two on CTV’s Chopper 9. Or you can take the prize as an hour long “newscast ride along in Chopper 9” for one person if flying circles over breaking news is more your thing. This is a pretty cool prize you can only win by attending.

Don’t miss this year’s BC Region RTDNA Awards Banquet as we turn this into the premier industry event in Vancouver.

Question (or maybe more of a comment) for Mr. Staff or any other RTDNA Board Member viewing this thread.

Any desire to bring back the professional development seminars that used to go along with the awards night? I found those sessions valuable and were my personal highlight of the trip. It’s been a few years without now. Why were they dropped?

Anyone else out there find the Pro-D sessions interesting? Or maybe I’m just a dork.

Yes, you are right, in an effort to save money and to avoid conference duplication with the National Conference the RTDNA decided to forgo the regional Pro-D days. I like the idea of them but they are a ton of work. (I chaired the last one in BC in 2011) I will look into putting something together for next year.
