Ian MacKinnon from SUN FM Kelowna is heading to Edmonton to join co-host Chelsea Bird as the new morning team on 104-9 Virgin Radio
In a chat with Ian this morning about the move, he said, “It’s a hard decision to leave a wonderful place like Kelowna, but I’m excited to take on this challenge.”
Ian is from Wetaskiwin, Alberta about 70kms southeast of Edmonton. He went to NAIT, graduatuated in 2006. He started in radio in promotions at Newcap Edmonton, before they sent him to Cam FM in Camrose.
In 2007 he made the move to Calgary to produce the Freeway and Meg morning show on the new Energy 101.5 (Now Kool FM). And in October 2010 he moved to Kelowna to take over evenings and weekends. A little later was moved into afternoons, and this time last year he took over mornings along with his friend Christy Farrell on Sun FM
Good luck Ian – you’ll be missed and all your broadcast friends and fans in Kelowna wish you only the best in your new gig…You do realize you just took a job in Edmonton, right? I mean Edmonton…did you look at a map?
Congrats to Ian! The guy is incredibly talented and a very hard worker, and…above everything else his eternal optimism is infectious!
Ian is the best! We’ll miss him here in Kelowna but I’m so happy to see him move up. As fun a guy off the air as he is on the air. Edmonton is lucky!
